Background on Some of Our Key People

Liam O'Brien is a leading MES, process and automation solutions specialist within the life science industry. Liam, who’s career spans over 30 years (20 within the life science sector), also has extensive commercial and project management experience. Other industries he has experience in include Oil & Gas, mining, general manufacturing. In the past he was managing director of a leading automation company employing over 200 people.

Diarmuid Quinn is a lead MES/ERP specialist with 20 years experience of IT systems within leading pharmaceutical multinationals. Diarmuid has strong experience on Enterprise Resource Planning systems, including SAP and JD Edwards, as well as responsibility for the management of other projects including implementation of multiple MES projects.  Diarmuid has a track record in setting the strategy for the design, documentation, and validation of 'Core' systems which allowed individual site roll-outs leverage from the initial effort.

Eddie Lawlor is a lead MES/Automation specialist whose career started out as an automation engineer in general industry with Siemens.  After 5 years, he moved back to Ireland and has since been working in the life sciecne industry for the last 15 years. Eddie has designed, implemented and overseen numerous automation projects within the major manufacturing pharmaceutical plants in Ireland. Over a three-year period as IT & Automation Manager of a leading automation company, he grew and managed a team of over 70 IT/automation engineers.

Dermot O'Callaghan has had responsibility for the general management and business development of ESP since its inception.  He started out his career as an automation engineer with Siemens for several years in their department for transport technologies. On returning to Ireland, he worked within the electronics industry supporting internal sales activities.  In 1997, he moved into business development within the life science industry focused on automation systems.  Before starting with ESP, he also worked a number of years independently as a computer systems and automation validation specialist.

Baha Korkmaz is leading our growth in North America. He has over 25 years of experience as a business owner, consultant, and project manager for multinational engineering and software development organizations. He has expertise in MES consulting, MES/ERP integration, DCS, Automation, and Process Control for pharmaceutical, biotech, medical device, and chemical manufacturing. He has experience implementing ISA S88 and S95 standards to improve Batch Process Automation. His experience includes Validation and Project Life Cycle management and execution. He is an active participant in WBF, ISPE, ISA S88, and S95 activities and has presented papers on Project Management, MES, and Automation.
